This will include monitoring developments with emerging accounting issues for U.S. GAAP (including SEC matters), statutory accounting principles (“stat”) and international accounting (“IFRS”). This position will also assist with developing policies for the Company that comply with GAAP and stat accounting principles. Also, the position will help coordinate state insurance financial examinations and respond to regulatory inquiries. Responsiblities: Monitor, review, and research GAAP and Statutory accounting and reporting issues emerging from various standard setting and regulatory bodies such as FASB, SEC, NAIC, state insurance departments, state legislatures, etc. Assist in identification and resolution or accounting issues, special transactions, including reinsurance and business combinations, due diligence and, when appropriate, coordinate with the tax department to identify tax implications. Assist with development and scheduling training programs and opportunities for Company accountants and actuaries Assist with the coordination of financial examinations conducted by state insurance departments and assist with responding to inquiries from state insurance departments. Other special projects, as needed. Requirements: CPA, 4+ years experience, Bachelors degree required and Masters in Accounting or MBA desirable, GAAP accounting experience required, statutory accounting and international accounting knowledge a plus.
